Photo Assignment #5 ~ Nature/landscape

I decided to do nature/landscape this week. I went down to Millpond Park and it was around the time the sun was setting. I had to make sure I did not get my pictures over exposed though. I took around 60 pictures and it was hard to choose out of all of them. There were so many things to shoot and I thought this tree trunk just stood out. I love how the sun is in the background but it does not drown out the picture. In my slide show below, there are many portrait and landscape photos.

Photo Assignment #4 ~ Black and White

This week I decided to take black and white photographs. I had a lot of fun taking these because I did them all outside of my house and I found some things on the outside of my house are interesting in black and white. I took about 200 pictures total and it was hard to choose which one as my best. I learned that some things just look better in black and white than color.

Panoramic Assignment

This week in photography class, we had to do a panoramic assignment. We had to take 3 pictures keeping the camera level each time and that way it made it easier to finish the panoramic. This assignment was very stressful and it took me 2 days to just get the pictures where I wanted them. We had to drag 3 photos into Gimp and then we had to fix them up so that they lined up. I learned about four new tools in Gimp. Rotate tool, scale tool, eraser tool, opacity tool, perspective tools and move tool. The picture above is my final project. After using the tools, this is what I ended up with.

Photo Assignment #3 ~ Portrait

I did portrait for my photo assignment this week. I had a lot of fun taking pictures of my little cousin James. He kept moving though so I struggled at first, but then I just had to bribe him with candy and he cooperated. The picture below is my best picture, he was just so happy at the time and he never gave me that same expression again. Plus it was a great day to be outside. I was glad I took pictures of something I really love.

Motion Demo

Today in class we went outside and Mr. Bush rode his bike to show us how to capture motion. I learned how to follow the object up to the time you take the picture. I also learned how to setup for a motion picture. The picture above is the one I thought was my best. This was my first time for motion so I thought I did pretty well. I thought it looked better in black and white than color because it really shows how the background is blurred.

Photo Assignment #2 ~ Animals

This week I decided to take pictures of animals. I took pictures of my dog Tucker (lab), and my sisters dog Rocko (Puggle). The picture below is the one I love. I took this and then right away I knew it would be in my top pictures. It was hard to get the dogs to just sit still for a couple of seconds but eventually I got some pictures. I did struggle with this because they kept moving and I was getting annoyed and I know I could have fixed up my picture more. I took around 61 pictures this week and it was tough to decide. In the slide show below you will see my favorite pictures. I had a lot of fun taking pictures of the dogs because I absolutely love them.

Gimp Car Retouch Assignment

This week in photography class we had to do a Gimp photo retouching assignment. We had a starting picture and then put it into Gimp, I first had to fix the levels so the car looked really new. The lighting messed with the color a little but we fixed it. I then had to get rid of some spots on the hood of the car. Then I had to tint the window and get rid of the background and make it black. This photo is my final one. As you can see the car has a richer red color, there aren't as many distractions from the lights. I enjoyed learning about this assignment because now when I am editing my pictures, I now know how to fix them up.
